Monday

My weekend away in Edinburgh went by in a flash & with the sunshine last night I thought I'd be struggling for time to get this week's pages done despite having all the ideas in place.....but it's not been sunny today so here are journal 52- elements

I thought about chemical tables but went with zodiac signs and their groupings

Whilst at DLP it's all about photos & words / a picture is worth a thousand words.

Some stencilling that reminded me of pasta, 2 postcards of a well known deli/coffee shop in Edinburgh

Quick & easy results as packing is still needed to be sorted.....

TFL and indeed commenting, let's enjoy summer this week :-D

Enjoy

Lots of enjoyment was had this weekend which I spent in Edinburgh- eating, drinking, people watching, some sunshine & also good company to share it all with.

This is also the theme for our inchies this week so here are my mini pieces...

A paper scrap, stamping of enjoy life & the dotted corners

A Gelli printed paper scrap, the E & N are happy mail die cuts, the JOY Part of the word is a Tim Holtz stamp/die set, some paper flowers & button bead finish off the corner.

I've my journal pages to do....I just need time to do them & with the fine weather forecast it's going to take a while....at least I know what I want to do....I also need to patch as I'm off to France in a week !

Busy

It's been a busy weekend here in Scotland, my stepson & granddaughter came to visit. I last saw them Easter 2014!!!

Bill got released from hospital on Saturday afternoon, he's now convalescing with his replacement shoulder (half shoulder to be precise!) and I've donned my nurses outfit again.

No crafting got done over the weekend but I had the pleasure of entertaining good friends with a BBQ

This was to celebrate midsummer/bills op/Simon's visit.

Sunday I had  my stepdaughter, her husband & 2 grandchildren on video link as well so we managed to have a real family thing going on for Father's Day.

Luckily for me I'd made my inchie & ATC in advance....

2 inchies

My ATC

Hope you've all had a brilliant weekend and are ready for the coming challenges of the week!

Stuff

First Bill, he's in recovery after his shoulder replacement so I am now crossing my fingers that he gets home Saturday because his son & granddaughter are arriving tomorrow evening for the weekend!

Yesterday I had plans to blog WOYWW....I never got round to it but here's what it looked like

But I've managed to do my latest Moo, the theme is numbers. I've used a scrap that had some white dots on it, added some clear embossed numbers, some rub-ones, die cuts.

That's all I've got for now so until next time.....

Pages

I got my masculine page finished today.....

So I'm linking David to Art Journal Journey

And I did my Positiv>>+>>Journal page too, this week it's all about gardens

My peonies are coming out, the deer keep coming into the garden to feast on the plants! The bees, butterflies & swallows are flying about so all we need now is a little more regular appearances of sunshine please!

Bill is off to the hospital tomorrow for surgery on Thursday - new shoulder time is finally here! Not sure when he will be allowed home so I shall be entertaining stepson + daughter on my own over most of the weekend!

Thanks for looking and see you all soon.

Coffee tag

Here is the tag that Tim made....

As I had none of the supplies I have improvised using the same colours + star sequin waste as a stencil, a waste piece of plastic, linen fabric scrap, linen tape scrap and Starbucks coffee packaging.

Let's face it, all of those who follow Tim know what a big fan he is of the said coffee company LOL!

Which a charm....

And without....

Volcano

Well I confess this one challenged my brain for quite a while but I had to come up with something as I've not missed one so far this year....

An explosive drawing & the date of Mt Etna's last eruption

My ATC is a watercolour scrap with a stamp along the edge that reminds me of the bubbling lava!

DLP

Recording memories/the road less travelled are our prompts at DLP this week - I've used a map out of an airline magazine showing the USA because we only get there once a year unlike our trips to France.

We never made the journey last year due to Bill's health issues so we are looking forward to this years trip!

Saturday

It's grey & damp outside which is a shame for our Riverfest but it's meant that I can do my Journal 52 page for our latest theme Silly Animal Zoo in amongst all this mess

So let me introduce you to the "toadybear"

He likes to sit on lily pads in secret glades full of stagnant water and when he can, he likes to start the day with a breakfast of honey coated slugs. He usually spends the morning having fun with his friends Trevor the Bengal Tiger & Boo the Boxebra (boxer dog/ zebra cross).

He likes mushrooms & caterpillar stir fry for lunch and after a long siesta when he dreams of his brothers and sisters - they got caught and are currently languishing in a zoo somewhere in Arabia! He usually meets up with some pals and heads to the nearest village for a slap up meal of locust wings, strawberries and rice baked together in a pie.

This is the Boxebra:

And this is Tony Toadybear

Sun

If you are in the UK you will have heard the expression "rain stops play" this refers to bad weather stopping the cricket. Well, today in the north east of Scotland it's more a case of SUN stopped play....I've been busy in the garden with the pressure washer.

See you all again soon

Desk scraps for AJJ

This month's theme at Art Journal Journey is masculine/feminine and I had some scraps lying on the desk that seemed to fit the bill perfectly!

All I had to get out was the tiny bits of bling in the centre of the flowers....

It's scary how these 3 ugly ducks started life as the 3 beautiful cygnets on the right LOL!

And yet more

A second post today....I had hopes that the weather would be nice enough to sit out and read this afternoon but no such luck!

I got the front & rear lawns mown just before the LawnMaster man turned up to treat the grass, it's looking so much better now that we've got rid of the moss and weeds.

So, no sun, a strong breeze, and even the odd very light shower put paid to sitting in the garden therefore I played with the stamped Crazy Birds that were sitting on my desk - some cards and ATCs as a result :-)

I needed some birthday cards:

This one is on a scrap

As is this one
And this one - I coloured some cream card with a promarker to get a couple of triangles that would blend

And I even managed to create the 6 ATCs required for an upcoming swap of favourite colours

All in all a productive afternoon though not in my DH's eyes!

Sunday 7 June 2015

Wave

Our latest theme over at every inchie Monday is "wave"

A bright yellow button on Kraft paper

A handprint stamp on a stencilled watercolour background.

DLP JUNE

It's the first challenge in June over at Documented Life Project and we have a new theme for the month:
Travel Journaling with the prompts this week being illustrative journaling & Take Me Away...

I got a little carried away with this one LOL as I'm really looking forward to our summer escape - I'm just a tad weary of the rubbish weather here in the north east of Scotland.

I had prepped a spread with distress inks & some stencilling

I used some hand drawn images, stamping, stickers that are years old but somehow fitted the theme, fussy cut some stamping...

So that's this week's small successes taken care of....hotels, flights, packing list.....all I need now is some sunshine to get myself acclimatised in anticipation!

See you tomorrow with my in hie/atc post :-)

Small successes

Our latest journal 52 theme...appropriate as I've just finalised our travel plans this week!

An old map of France, some stamping on the left & more stamping with a small map showing the location of the state known as vacationland "Maine" on the right....can't wait as we missed seeing the grandchildren last year!

It's more travel themed pages over at DLP too but that's for another day. Enjoy what's left of the weekend.

Notelets

I'm still playing with my Crazy Birds....needed some blank cards so I have raided the snippets box and been having fun.....

This little chap had some problems with the embossing of his tail so now he's looking to choose new tail feathers LOL

And this young lady lost her topknot so I've drawn some spikes and added a bow!

Something about this one reminds me of Patrick Moore the stargazer from TV!

I even managed to find some unloved flowers in the bit box, ages since I used any of these!

And last but not least...I think this one might be my favourite!

They've all been coloured with either distress ink ( watercolour style) or promarkers.

Journal

A new page for the French journal challenge: your strengths / successes.

Many of you will be aware that I spend a lot of time in France - not all of you know that I did all my schooling in French - English would actually be classed as my 4th language from an education point of view!

So I chose to pose a question for the challenge

2 dictionary pages & die cut letters on a stencilled background am I French?????    Suis-je anglaise?????

I have a southern French accent in French & a Heinz 57 accent the rest of the time....

And as a closing note here are some more of my crazy bird snippets
