December

Christmas & Boxing Days have ended....Blogger is still playing silly beggars despite me powering my iPad down then on again so I guess it's delete and reinstall next but in the meantime I'm doing the old cut and paste....

Art prompts galore the final scavenge!

Red, green, wrapping paper (flourish in the top right), gift or clothing tag(label from the new jumper I wore Christmas Day), snowman, glitter or something glittery( snowman stamped with versamark & glitter EP), 3 words associated with Christmas (ho ho ho, merry & bright), food wrapper or label (honeycomb), 1-3 stickers  ( ski-ing santa, parcel mouse, dancing mouse and also 2 sticky labels off the boots I bought whilst in the USA that I'd not yet worn)&  napkin ....there was no room left!

I also completed the cover/ spine of the APG & Journal 52 book. Im amazed at how clean the white leather cover has stayed!

Colour me positive the final prompt: it is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air .

I chose to do all the things that make me think of Christmas, the background is wrapping paper from around the present from my stepson & daughter in law.

In this one you can see the glitter paper!

See again soon....I'm off to work in the kitchen now!

Week 52

The big day is done & dusted and we can now all relax....I was lucky enough to be able to speak to my 3 grandchildren thanks to the magic technology of the internet and they all seem to have had a wonderful Christmas across the pond, the eldest in California with her dad & the other 2 in Maine - happy days!

We were the warmest place in the UK yesterday with temperatures of 15.5 C (mid 50's) and this morning....we wake to snow and also the sad news of the loss of another sweet voice George Michael, what a year!

Our final inchie of 2016 is letter and I toyed with various options in my stamp collection but eventually decided that I just had to go with Z!

I can't believe that this time next week will be a new year- here's hoping it's a good one for all....thanks for all the visits & comments this year, keep them coming as I love to read your messages and I be coming to see you all too.

Journal 52

Celebrate the winter holiday is our theme...

I started off with scraped paint - 2 shades of green & some pewter. Stamped some holly (Bo Bunny) tinsel, tree, candle foliage arrangement, restamped the candle which I coloured & fussy cut, stamped a string of baubles to which I added some bling (its quite flat which is great) and added a message.

Trying to catch the shimmer....

On the opposite page I added the snowmen on a sledge, this is from the packaging of a banner that I hang up outside the chalet in the winter.

Bill & I drove out to Ballater for lunch today....we encountered sleet on the way whereas in was blue skies coming home...typical Scottish 4 seasons in a day on this, the shortest day! Things can only get better :-)

Merry Christmas to all my visitors here in blogland and I'll see you after the big event.....

Week 51

Well, Im typing this for the umpteenth time today....but blogger keeps shutting down on me and I lose everything I've done & have to start again! Fingers are crossed!

I've had the painter in since Wednesday & have made most of the fact to stay in my workroom- throwing out, sorting, using scraps....

I have made a start on my colour me positive page: share your soul through creativity

And today I got stuck into art prompts galore: winter

And here are some close ups...I made sure to gesso the pages as I was using spray Dylusions

Diecut foliage...

And let's not forget that a new week means a new inchie....ugly

I also found the one I meant to use last week!

Sneak peeks

Just a little glimpse of what I did whilst the painter was here.....

Green

Yesterday's efforts whilst the painter is in.....a big tidy up of my desk but only after I had made my art Prompts Galore page!

Pick one of the classic Christmas colours (red, green, gold, silver) and make a page in the colour. (Doesnt need to be a Christmas page) SCAVENGER : red, security envelope pattern, paper doily, die cut or cut out of leaf or leaves, black acrylic paint, white paint splatters, something from your stash, stamped images

Fun

A weekend away in the Scottish capital means that I have not done much journal art

Water of Leith....viewed from the apartment

Cocktails at The Dome

Suspended Christmas trees at the first floor level

After all the fun, food & cocktails it was time to return home to old clothes & porridge as they say around here!

I have managed to get a page made for Journal 52: Fire or Ice

I stamped in silver + silver, holographic & clear EP, added some die cut snowflakes and a layer of snowflake cellophane.

More die cut snowflakes over the top and some letters for the message, a stamped & coloured fireplace

I started this post yesterday and Blogger is bugging me...it keeps shutting down!

So I now have a colour me positive page to share too. The theme is " a flower does not compete with the flower next to it, it just blooms.  I've given it a winter slant by using poinsettias

And finally my regular Monday inchie....grin

Wednesday 7 December 2016

Dictionary Y

Not many of these left to do now! The latest letter is Y and I've decided to go with year....

A random scrap that was on my desk as the background, dictionary definition and some stamping....and I must also decide what I'm going to do with the £10 voucher that I got for my Iris page!

Tuesday 6 December 2016

Tuesday

....a new colour on my hair....sorry, no photos but it's a touch more ash blonde this time around....and I will try to get a decent picture this weekend when I am down in Edinburgh but I hate having my picture taken so no promises. I managed a few more cards today so we are almost done for this year and I have done 2 pages....

Journal 52: sorry/ not sorry

I went to boarding school & later lived in a different country so a lot of time away from my parents.

Art prompts galore: 49. Bling// SCAVENGER: red, foil, 3 die cuts or punch outs, 2 pieces of fiber or fabric, texture paste or gesso through a stencil, acrylic paint, a circle, a tag, words

There's bling, red, foil, die cuts, circles (bling & sequins) all the little trees along the bottom are paper scraps that I have diecut.

December

How on earth did it get to the last month of the year already?

I've been busy this week, not so much on the craft front however but here is what I can share with you...

A few postcards for an upcoming swap,

A decorated Christmas tree!

A colour me positive "new beginnings" page. I chose to die cut the clock the wrong way round in a very vain attempt to make time slow down....

Some versamark ink & shimmering eyeshadow for subtle stamping (Paper Artsy)

Also some DI / stencils.

I got a Christmas card made for the Mainers

And another made for the Californians ...

This shows the shimmer & texture...

I've absolutely no idea what or where 1942 comes into the book hitchhikers guide to the galaxy which is the book that all our inchies have been linked to but I've thought outside the box this week and given you all my husbands birth date!

It's actually a slightly different colour IRL but with dodgy lighting this is the best that I can get.

More later in the week... Maybe!

Sunday 27 November 2016

Eeek

I've used not one but two pieces of my precious strokeable paper this weekend!

Art Prompts Galore black & gold....

Journal 52: inhale / exhale

And yes, those 2 pieces of paper that I remember I bought at the student supplies shop at Galashiels college a good number of years ago, are side by side:-)

Colour me positive: community- help

DLP : exploring pointillism- I laughed when I saw that as I thought I'd pretty much covered it last week!

So I did another portrait!

Who? What? Why? How? Every inchie is all about the question this week....that's a lot to ask so I've done punctuation....

We have our list of challenges for next year and I'm pleased to say that I can cover most weeks without too much difficulty:-)

Art prompts galore are having a postcard swap which I'm excited about too, we have the list for that and I've got some stitched pieces which I will be able to use that I've had for ages and I've started to get the cards prepared....

I seem to have achieved a lot this weekend as I've even made a start on writing my Christmas cards...and discovered that I have not been as prolific as I thought....need to make more!

Thanks for looking, and indeed commenting.....

Journal 52

It took me a long time to decide how to deal with this one.....community art - include the words:
We stand with you - indigenous people, Muslims, LGBTQ, Immigrants, Alter-Abled, Women, The Disenfranchised, Refugees, All People Of Colour, Veterans, Survivors, And anyone feeling alone and scared

It was not until I was having a good clear out of a cupboard that was home to some old magazines (Stitch with the Embroiderers Guild) that I came across a pile of textile images and one in particular called out to me!

A fabric that had been coloured with Markal oil bars & machine stitches.....

A black tag & some assorted fonts later I had my page....

Then today I was cutting my way through some of the other pictures I'd kept and this wacky doll seem ideal for the opposite page!

So here is the spread....the only problem is 2 directions! She just didn't work the other way though :-(

So I'm going to live with it
