Blue

A couple pieces I made earlier in the week....nothing today as I'm feeling blue :-(

2 small Tim Holtz embossing folders used with Coredinations paper, I think the words are Polka Doodles but not sure about the snowman, I stamped with archival black & coloured the snowman with white Caran d'Ache neocolor 7000- I've had these for Soooooo long that I will not tell you 'cos you'd never believe me! Oh, and I added some bling to the centres of the snowflakes.

this one is the same paper thats been embossed using the larger snowflake folder & also the snowman.
After sanding images & edges I stuck the panel onto some cardboard that got the distressed edge treatment. There are 3 brads that have been stamped & embossed in white , bling added to the snowflake centres, 2 eyelets that I added some extra colour to using Promarkers.

I added a small Kraft tag stamped & embossed in white, gave the edges a light inking too...added some jute string and a little patched heart button with the shank removed.

I have added more of the same jute string to the hanging to as to hang it with (it would not sit right to take the photo)

Banquet

These delightful cutlery stamps dropped through my door with a magazine the other day and I just could not resist inking them up and linking them to the MOO MANIA "tools" challenge

Bird

Less is more are calling for us to use birds  this week... I had several options ranging in size & style, bought & free...and decided to go with this image from inkadinkado - inked & embossed in gold on white card & mounted on a Kraft card after rounding the corners!

Simples!!!

Rope

A second post today...this time for the inchie theme which is rope this week and I have kept things very simple AND flat by using a stamp rather than the real thing!

A paper scrap (scattered straw distress ink) free stamp (got to love those!) I've coloured the rope with a Spectrum Noire pen & added some fake stitching in black Pitt pen.

Pet

A new theme across at ATCAS #27.....pets

Several years ago I saw an image of a retriever puppy on a website & I saved the image but forgot to make a note of the make :-( every time I won't over to the USA I would look, on the off chance, but always with no luck :-( so imagine my pleasure at finally coming across the little chap, turns out he's from Inkadinkadoo & I believe he comes in 2 sizes) on my recent venture across the pond! I might add that I am a retriever owner, on my third one in fact.

So here is my pet entry, a Kraft square card embossed with the cuttlebug "Swiss dots" folder, the puppy has been stamped with dune pigment ink & clear embossed then coloured with ivory & vanilla Promarkers onto a small tag (cut with tiny tabs & tags die) and finally a small piece of ribbon from my stash.

Bailey is almost 3 and he still sits like this puppy!

Twinchie

It's another challenge over at Twinchie challenge and the theme is  silhouette.

It seemed only right to go with a winter or Christmas idea so I've inked up a stamp that came with Get Stamping issue 4. It's meant to be a snow globe image but I rather liked the idea of it being a village sat at the bottom of a snowy valley with snow falling from a starry night sky.....some of you can see where this is going....yes! I will be heading off to my little bit of mountain paradise fairly soon :-)

So it's black archival on a paper scrap background,  sorry i can't remember what this one was done with.

Silver bells

Silver bells, silver bells...it's time for my share....CASology #71

The current theme is BELLS so I have a white holly wreath edged in tumbled glass with some silver "ribbon" bow & bells!

Hope you are all having a great w/end ;-)

I'll be back soon with more to share

Tools

Time for a new theme across at MOO MANIA!

I gulped a bit when I saw the subject but then I had a brainwave - does not need to be DIY tools :-)

So here are my creations
2 different compass designs from the Tim Holtz artful tools plate -I stamped the rulers in pumice stone on the first £ drew some circles/arcs with a Pitt pen on the second (inked & embossed in silver)

This is a trio of brushes from the same stamp sheet on a paper scrap edged with salty ocean

I then decided to ink over a piece of card that has embossing paste on it - I've used broken china & peeled paint stains
These just happen to match a moo sized scrap I had so I stamped another brush and for the second piece I've got a handwriting stamp (inkadinkadoo) in sepia with a quill in black over the top (Paper Artsy)
2 more ATCs for trading :-)

I've stamped off the brushes on a tag & will do some work on that... Not sure what yet!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

WHITE & colourful

Well, it's looking like I will be doing some digging when I get to France (only 4 weeks away now!) as this is what things looked like yesterday....

Meanwhile my grandson finally got his bedroom wall decorated...
He loves animals but elephants in particular, has a large leather elephant in one corner & a 3ft paper mâché elephant head on another wall, he decorated it himself (with duck tape) this is quite apart from the shelf of wooden & stone ellies that he has been given :-).

Off to make breakfast now, I'll do some crafting later & take pictures of yesterday's makes....it was too dark by the time I'd finished to take them !

White

TIOT challenge time again & the theme this week is for white on white.

Such a class colour scheme & a demon to capture this time of year on camera!!!

Well I just had to join in with this one & hope you are all have as hard a time capturing the whiteness :-)

Carried away as is so often the case & made 2 cards....
A free snowflake embossing folder for the border band & a deer cut from fused Angelina fibres
In this photo you can just about see the iridescence

My second card has the same border & this time it's a pine tree cut from white linen effect card & mounted on foam pads.

Bits of this....n that

Can't show you the finished items yet!!!!

Old

It's inchie time again and I confess that I made them a couple of weeks ago when I had a spare moment! It's getting busier in this house recently....must be something to do with Christmas :-)

So here are my OLD inchies

A ragged old heart

A petroglyph

An Egyptian image

Hope you like them :-)

Paper

LIM 146....theme: designer paper!

Scraps all around me....but what make are they?

I managed to find one that
A) I liked
B) knew the make

So here is my entry for this weeks challenge - a scrap of Raspberry Road paper & a wooden decoration that came free with a magazine last year, talk about taking time to use it!!!

I coloured the ornament with Sharpie gold marker & a green Promarker - I've also added some "stitching" with a Staedler fine liner.

Inky part 2

Some more inking has been happening here :-)

I have turned this
Rusty hinge & crushed olive through a stencil.....

Into this
I've die cut, using the weathered clock & added Tarnished brass distress stain, and got myself a nicely aged clock.

I die cut a Pine tree from some packaging, inked with stain, dried it and added some "snow" which turned out to be a disaster due to the fact that the stain leached into the snow & turned it lime green!!!
So I picked off the snow, covered the tree with gesso that I stipples on to get a rough finish & left it to dry....then added some green acrylic paint- definitely an improvement :-) once that had dried, I added some more gesso to the upper parts of the branches to create snow, this time it stayed white!

I've added a little black soot ink to the edges of the clock & hands, stuck the clock down, the hands have been attached using a snowflake brad & the tips of the hands are stuck down.

I die-cut some letters with the Alphabetical strip die to spell snow time and glue them onto the clock "face"- also added a plastic snowman in the bottom corner after I'd distressed the edges & coloured with some chipped sapphire ink

We are forecast snow next week so it would seen that the words may well be prophetic!
There is already snow on the nearby hills and last week-end saw skiers & snowboarders out on the slopes at Aviemore so we know it can't be that long before winter starts to catch up with us....

Have a good weekend & thanks for stopping by :-)

Inky

I've been snatching a little playtime here & there as best I could this week! Between putting the garden to bed, shopping for gifts in Aberdeen & a very pleasant lunch out today....oh, and the shorter dark days are a real hinder :-(  I just don't seem to have got an awful lot done.

I wanted to show auntie something on my blog so went in the proper way rather than using blogger on the iPad which how I do most of my posts (or on the iPhone). Imagine, I had the very pleasant surprise of finding a couple of new followers! A big welcome to you both :-)

Some of my time has been spent playing with inks, paints & texture paste

This is oil pastels (on some weird paper) that has has some stencilling added.

I then added some distress stain over part of the paper, I had tried to do some embossing with versamark & holographic powder but it was not working out as I wanted so I decided to add some texture paste through a brass snowflake stencil that I found lurking in a drawer.

Once everything was dry it was time to add some turquoise, silver, green & mauve metallic rub-ons(treasure gold type). I have also added a little iridescent Markal oil bar.

I still have work to do to it!!!!

Anniversary

Addicted to CAS are celebrating 1 year of challenges & by a strange coincidence my hairdresser will soon be celebrating the same event.

I've used a quarto sized card, long & slim, not like me :-(. White card embossed in gold using a free Craft Stamper image by Stamp Addicts, the sentiment was also free (make unknown) and the 1 has been cut from a scrap of gold card using my cuttlebug.
And here is a closer look...

Happy Anniversary Carla!

Triangle

The challenge for CASology #70 is triangles.........

I went through my stamps to decide what I could use and came up with quite a few options:

Witches hat, no good as Halloween is past! A party hat that would be fine for a twinchie, a clowns style hat (Lynne Perella), 2 different yachts, 4 different buntings, some corners, a kite, some lace, a tent & 25 different Christmas trees.

Some of the trees were too small, some not triangular enough, some too fancy! I eventually narrowed it down to 3 with 1 other possible so here is what I came up with....

Paper Artsy stamp Egg & Nog 8), stamped & embossed with gold on white card, mounted on a layer of matt gold "fabric weave" paper (the paper mill).

A Chocolate Baroque stamp, not sure what plate as it came out of a "grab bag"!
I've stamped with distress ink ink pine needles and clear embossed.

Whist I was in the trees I decide to stamp another one, Paper Artsy again, same set but plate 10, which I stamped in black & clear embossed then coloured with Spectrum Noire pen (JG6) alternate stripes and the others I've used Evergreen Spruce DI. I spritzed a little more water on the ink and went around the borders with a paintbrush. The background to the tree has been coloured Ivory. This is MOO sized!

And finally, an inchie, purely because I could....a tent from inkadinkadoo on a scrap that had blue (water) & green (vegetation)

Enough?

I've been printing off labels today, making the most of the computer talking to the Brother labeler!

I was trying to work out if I have enough Christmas cards & who was getting what!!!
Looks a real mess does it not?

Mouth

It's Monday & it's Inchie challenge time again! This weeks theme....mouth.

Here are my shares
A Rolling Stones Album cover and a lipstick stain (clear choice stamps)

And for this one of an inchie on an ATC I have used a Fiskars stamp- the ATC is coloured with DI spun sugar & stamped using the same ink to create a subtle effect and the same stamp using red pigment ink & clear EP. I've edged the ATC, Inchie & chit chat stickers with a black pen.

CAS-ology 69

This weeks cue card is brown...
1 card (free stamp of a wooded cabin) stamped in walnut, clear embossed with snow effect created using iridescent glitter.

And whilst I was in the browns....

A twinchie (free stamp)

And another little share...
This time an inchie of a couple of mugs (Fiskars stamp) stamped onto a paper scrap...

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, I'm off to link this & see what everyone else has been doing there :/)

Hands

Well the title is slightly misleading...

The theme across at moo-mania is hands but all the stamps I have are too small or not really recognisable as being hands.

How to solve the problem? Easy in the end... I stamped a pair of gloves and then a hand ad hoc around the edges which I've coloured with some white, flesh & a couple of shades of tan, the gloves are brown & I've edged the moo with brown ink.

Chalk

Big surprise! Tim Holtz tag for November is all about chalk effects!!!!

Even bigger surprise....I don't have any of the requirements other than the pumice stone DI :-(

I will not contemplate the idea of not participating this month as I am in the country where all my craft stash is, I am not going out shopping for anything either! I WILL MAKE DO!!!

So here are a few experiments....

This the mini acorn blueprint stamp that I have stamped using Versamark ink and then dusted with talcum powder...

This the mini oak leaf stamped with white pigment ink & embossed with distress embossing powder (antique linen) and then scribbled over with white pastel which I then rubbed with a soft cloth & brushed....the DEP does give a good tooth for the chalk!

I decided to go with both to see what happened so I then followed the rest of Tim's instructions...

Stamped 2 more of each design & gave them the appropriate treatment, cut out the different layers and mounted them onto the base design on the tag using foam pads. Amazingly enough I had some black foam pads, how lucky was that!

I swiped & spritzed & mopped & dried...then stamped out some labels - acorn & oak, and as there was still ink on the mat I did more of the same treatment on some card remnants....not the same results :-(
The colour has come out more grey than brown but, hey, I'll live with my errors today.

I think I prefer the colour given using the versamark but I also like the "tooth" given with the distress powder! Let me know what you all think...
