Music

I'm posting this from the south of France - I know! I'm not supposed to be out of the country until July but..... Disaster struck this household yet again. Mum fell on the 5th of May & broke her hip, the opposite one from 18 months ago. They kept her in hospital for a few days as they were worried about a "chest infection" that has been there for years and never got to the bottom of. She was released from hospital on the 22, 2 days after their 59th wedding anniversary! a fact that she was sadly unaware of as she has been suffering with dementia for a few years. On Sunday it was French Mother's Day but again this passed in a haze. On Tuesday my dad rang to tell me that she had slipped away in her sleep, peace for her at last. Well, I jumped on a plane as soon as I could and managed to be here in time for the cremation yesterday, no words, no service as such, just music! I've been cheated of my mum by a horrible illness and now by death itself, we were looking forward to celebrating my dad's 80th, her 85th and aunties 90th.  Mum & Auntie were both called Pam, their birthdays 7 days apart and now their funerals have happened 2 weeks apart - they are both going to be much missed.

Music is this weeks twinchie challenge & I had made one before all the upheaval so with yesterday's music in my head I realised I had to share both my art and my sorrow. Please forgive...

DLP22

It's the weekend and time for another theme across at the documented life project, I can't believe that we are nearly half way through the year!

This week is all about a HOUSE - ok so it said draw, sketch or paint....I have painted/coloured them :-)

The row of houses across the bottom of my page are all Paper Artsy stamps bar 2 which were freebies with Craft Stamper. The castle in question (Dorrie Doodle stamp) is a local tourist attraction Drum Castle which belongs to the National Trust. On the facing page I have stuck in a black & white card that I found on Aunties notice board - I think it said Kempston Hall!

And a little more fun

Sorting out books at auntie Pam's this morning and then a little play with some off cuts.... I ended up with some ATC sized pieces

Had fun

Took a little time out today as it was pouring with rain - this is heading out in some happy mail to America

Distress stains, acrylic paints, Paper Artsy stamps, white gel pen...

DLP - journal 52 - and more

DLP add embroidery or sewing floss

I've recycled a "new sewing machine" stitches try out piece....cut into ATC sized pieces.
There is some hand sewing as well as machine, beads, lace, leather, buttonholes

And I could not stop at just one.... I had this piece sitting in a drawer waiting to be finished.... It was a sample from a course a few years ago! The needle had rusted into the fabric so I trimmed the felt background down and mounted the stitching (woven wheels, buttonhole wheels, French knots all in a variegated thread) onto a piebe of decorated paper that I made a few weeks ago.
The fabric area is the size of a twinchie!

JOURNAL 52
Book inspired....I love books and read a lot but my favourites are encyclopaedias, dictionaries and atlas! This is my page for this week...

And finally my twinchie for this week. SMILE

Oils & boats

I had some messy fun saturday & today! I dug my old oil pastels out, it's been a while since they had seen the light of day :-(

I wanted to explore some ideas using Ellen Vargo as my inspiration so without further ado here is what I came up with using my oil pastels, acrylic paint stamping, archival stamping, a black Sharpie & a white MARVY Reminisce pen

I outlined the white flowers with a Spectrum Noire pen as the sharpie was having a hissy fit at the time!

The jade flowers have been stamped with a sparkly paint but I could not capture it :-(

I outlined the white flowers with a brown liner on this sheet.

And last but least I'm sharing my Jolly boat for every inchie Monday

Part of a Michael Powell image that's been coloured with Spectrum Noire pens

Slow progress

I started to repost some of the photos that I managed to delete! It's going to take a while & don't have them all but I'll get what I can reposted.
It's blogversary tomorrow so I thought I'd better get on with getting some of them back on here :-)
I may have to wait for the next wet day to do some more so I'll see you around!

Moo time

The latest challenge across at moo mania is mail and as I had something to suit....it's going into the Journal!
An Inkadinkadoo stamp coloured with Promarkers
I'm linking this one to TIOTs challenge as well.

Here are the ones from earlier this Spring that had not been shared

Whoops

Well, Google gave me some update options yesterday.....and in the process.....I seem to have managed to clear all the photos from previous blog posts from my blog!!!!

What a DoDo I am :-(

may tag

Here I am finally posting my May tag! Or at least hoping to because yesterday & this morning I kept getting an error message on the iPad.

I struggled to make decisions on this one. First for the embellishments, then for the paper and finally for the tag background colour. I tried bundled sage, scattered straw, picked raspberry & rusty hinge - the latter being the one I finally went with.

Here is the paper I chose

and here is the end result on the other sheet of paper that I liked.

The pen nib & FIND word stick are Tim Holtz
Kokopelli was a metal button, he's had his "shank" removed
The key, mini dragonfly, "love joy peace patience" metal tag all came from the USA
The butterfly is a Sizzix stamp/die set that I've mounted on a frame that has been cut from a metal food container and then embossed & coloured with alcohol ink

The tie is eyelash yarn from my stash

Nearly not!

Mondays indigo inchie

Tuesdays ribbon twinchie

I'm afraid things have been very quiet in the craft room this week, we are bidding farewell to Bill's auntie who passed away in her sleep at almost 90! I shall miss her and indeed making all her Xmas & birthday cards which she sent out in copious amounts.

Journal 52

The latest theme is hands
Spoilt for choice on this one...2 pages so far!

My own hand complete with jewellery and current nail varnish! Some hand prints (judikins) in sepia archival and 2 "graphics" hand/arms from stash. I've used a stencil for the lettering.

The flip side has hand prints made using a freebie stamp, versamark ink pad & pan pastels - I've hand written the message.

DLP

Still catching up with this one but I've got 3 more done

#9 collage something recycled
The central piece is an envelope that a girlfriend recycled to send me an ATC in & I've added a fabric flower into the centre of the stamped one on it. The ivy leaves came from a bunch of silk foliage that was going in the rubbish. The little pink flowers have come from some old birthday cards.

#4 a secret message

Some graph paper, some wine bottles cut from a catalogue, my secret message has been over painted with tumbled glass distress paint.

#18  a quote
A crafters workshop stencil (art is...) with peacock feathers DI, sections of a tim Holtz stamp (artful tools) stamped in archival, I've coloured the bristles with soft pastels. The quote is from Albert Einstein.

DLP 8

Another catchup page- this time the theme is add a flap

I chose to colour wrinkle free style using assorted blue DI, used a piece of card to mop up and then embossed that with a TH folder. I've added a pocket watch which is where my flap comes in as it opens & closes thanks to the cover for its face.

I've added the words Time and tide wait for no man
