Words....

It's Monday, damp & a little foggy to start...then just grey and damp! what a way to end the month :-(

I'm struggling with the French journal site this year, just not liking the format of a recommended book that one should then meditate about....that's definitely not me! Jump in then think is more like it lol.

So I've finally put a half hearted page together as I had an image that kind of went with the whole "shaman" scene....and as it's Halloween I've add a witch on her broomstick. I want to finish the year with them even if it's only 1 page a month! Only 2 more to go, 12 double spreads done & 6 singles achieved.

My DLP  PAC is done...

It was the stitching that stopped me posting yesterday!

And my dictionary page for U which I had somehow thought said umbrella.....must have been down to the piece of paper napkin on my desk...

I'm still tempted to do another page with umbellifer but we shall see as I'd also like to catch up with my mixed media morsels.

Happy Halloween

And see you next month!

No puppies today?

I'm afraid to say that there are no puppies today! I've been doing my journal pages instead....

Colour me positive with a quote laughter is an instant vacation (Milton Berle)

This quote just happened to be on a sheet of Fiskars stamps that I bought whilst in the USA last month....so with some Dylusions stencilling & borders that had fussy cut leaves added (madness!)

Art Prompts Galore
masquerade// SCAVENGER:pumpkins, an orange scrap, a candy wrapper, three words that are halloweenish, the number 31, something white,an image of something Halloweenish, a door, something you choose

A Chocolate Baroque image...

TH stencil, ghost diecut

The only thing on the list I missed out was the door!

Journal 52 Halloween// day of the dead

Well I decided to keep on playing with all the Halloween scraps that were still sitting on the desk and after painting the page with a blue/black acrylic mix I added 2 spiderwebs that were cut from mulberry paper/double sided tape, a rickety house that someone sent me, a Chocolate Baroque Raven on a cross, a flying skull, boo!, a couple of ghosts, a spider, an owl & row of pumpkins with a "happy Halloween" banner.....job done.

DLP has its Halloween stencil background done and now I need to do my PAC to go on it but you'll just have to wait for my next post to see that one....

Meanwhile here is the latest inchie coastline - a small piece of coastline along from where my mum & dad lived in the south of France!

Puppies at Halloween

So today is the day that we are getting a new fuse box which means.....no coffee, no radio, no heat gun, no computer.....yes, you guessed it....not much able to be done as the Hoover, washing machine & iron don't work without power either!

Bill was out collecting a friend as he was taking the car in for a service- they were going out for lunch....so what's a girl to do? Disappear into her craft room of course, accompanied by her loyal dog!
Might just as well spend some time with my new puppy stamps.....and here are a few made so far:

This was prompted by the state Bailey got into most days whilst he was in kennels!

And as Halloween is just around the corner I decided to do a couple of seasonal ones...

The candy collection buckets had to do without handles as I could not get the ink to dry enough for the diecut to function properly or the Xyron glue to stay on the paper:-(

As I had some others I'd stamped out I carried on, this time the images were on watercolour paper so I wet the image (avoiding the eye area) and ....coloured with silk fabric paints! Yet another product in my room that I don't know when I last used for its true purpose!

So we have a butch bulldog!

A very British bulldog

A rather off-colour girl and finally a rather goofy girl!

I hope that my power is restored soon as I'm getting rather cold....could murder a coffee or a tea!

Gone to the dogs...

I have been playing with my new TH crazy dogs....

A Halloween card for the American kids....they have 3 dogs: a chocolate lab, a black lab/pointer        cross and a brindle lab/pit cross and my granddaughter does NOT do scary!

My other granddaughter turns 14 on the 3rd of November, not sure how in heck that has come about so quickly! She has a cat but loves dogs....Mummy prefers cats! That would explain the very startled look on this pups face lol.

I also decided to make a few ATCs whilst I was at it as supplies had run right down and I have had some underpaper scraps floating around on my desk for a while now.....

A goofier lot you'd struggle to find!

DLP

More catching up got done....

list 10 things that I hope to gain as I grow older. PAC add B/W mark making over colour

I skipped the list! Used some old wrapping paper as a background & a PAC that's a gelli print scrap with some additional stencilling in white....then added some white gelly roll & black sharpie + a stamped quote.

 add stripes

More gift wrap (metallic) & some scrap letters + a piece of underpaper that's been stamped.

October a fresh start- clear your palette

PAC hide something under your art
Tim Holtz Autumn image stamped on card, remains of my alcohol ink coloured acetate over the top, a diecut leaf to fill in one of the voids (more metallic paper on card)

dare 2 B. PAC start with a doodle
I skipped the dare 2 B word....and went on to use a piece of gelli print that looked as though it had a piece of sun & a palm tree in the voids!

list 10 things I want to learn. PAC draw a line down the middle => 2 scenes
More list skipping! I know, I'm terrible! Just some stamping & stencilling on this one.

PAC repeat a pattern
An autumnal piece of paper from my stash + a little added white details and a gelli scrap with a quote & repeat stamping do a spiral stamp in green, orange & brown

That means I'm caught up on everything except my mixed media morsels....happy dance time!

So that just leaves me to share my inchie

See you all again soon!

E...eye stamps by Tim Holtz

Complete with a fuzzy eye chart!

I knew I had an old Twinchie lurking in the scrap box & now it's been repurposed! The stamp is from an old copy of Craft Stamper (June 2004!)

Journal 52

All caught up on my 52 pages...

Waxing or waning ... For week 40

A quick search on Pinterest prompted me to download a partial image to accompany a piece of paper sitting on my desk and some washi tape from my stash....

And for week 42 nature/ nurture I've used more scraps...

Some rusty metal paper, peeling paint paper, flowers and wild animals....

This one has been linked to the current theme across at Art Journal Journey at Suzi's suggestion

Using scraps

I've had the glue stick & scraps box on my desk this week so as to do some catching up on the journal pages....
These are from art prompts galore

39. red/orange //scavenger List: 2 fall colours / leaves / wavy lines / a childrens book illustration / text in a foreign language / 3 circles cut from paper / security envelope pattern / white paint / black ink / paint splatters (colour of your choice)
I went essentially with the red/orange idea for this one and everything came from scraps!

40. Whimsy// Scavenger:orange, something that says "fall" or "spring" if that applies-something on your wish list-something that starts with an N- 3-5 circles-a phrase or quote, ransom letter style-something white-an image from a magazine-a piece of authentic ephemera -2 stamped images
Another ORANGE page!

41. Scraps // SCAVENGER:coffee or tea stained paper / a label / stamp with white paint or gesso/ add 3 die cut shapes/ use a wax crayon/ washi tape/ some paper pieces cut with irregular scissors/ 2 stickers/ something metal/ lace
All scraps from our recent trip to Maine including the show we went to see at the Ogunquit Playhouse.

42. Starts with A // Scavenger pick 10 items from your stash this week and add them to your scavenger hunt journal.
All scraps... Catalogue cover, stickers, stamped images from envelopes & a diecut flower that's been wrapped with metallic thread.

I also got a couple done for journal 52

Autumn / Fall (include the word)

Distress inks in mustard seed, fossilised amber, spiced marmalade, carved pumpkin, candied Apple, rusty hinge, barn door, fired brick, aged mahogany, shabby shutters, peeled paint, forest moss, won't age photo were used with Rubber Tapestry leaf stamps to create the background. I used a mix of alcohol inks on acetate which I then diecut & embossed using TH layered leaves. I diecut some letters from a scrap of textured wallpaper and added 2 portions of real leaves that I picked up whilst in Maine.

Then I decided to do the "free for all" using more seasonal scraps....

TH stencils/ wilted violet DI, a tyvek strip that was an admission bracelet, diecut spider, bats, ghost, skull, some "talking skulls" that came from who knows whe or when - I think they are from a rubber stamp catalogue, and in the centre a clothing tag from a T-shirt bought in Walmart a few years ago!

Week 40 & 42 remain to be done as do the past 5 DLP !

Thanks for looking and I'll be back soon :-)

Quotes

Another quote for colour me positive and a pre-prepared background ( shabby shutters, scattered straw, spiced marmalade )

I've done the border with a new Dylusions stamp and also the fussy-cut flowers, a random piece of Japanese floral paper from my scrap pile and a stamped version of the quote:l ive simply, expect little, love much, give extravagantly.

Week 42 and our team leader has "gone fishing"! She's taking the week off but we were told we could do something if we chose to......I had a suitable image so I'm chillin' on another distress ink/stencil background (antique linen, mustard seed, fossilised Amber, dried marigold, gathered twigs) and a Dylusions border (gathered twigs)

It's another week across at every inchie Monday and this week's theme is horizon

I used another partial image ....funnily enough from the same set as last week's compass!

And here is the missing dinosaur

I had already coloured a background using a Dylusions stencil & DI ( spun sugar, picked raspberry, cracked pistachio)

Week 40

Another stencilled background (TCW & DI) in bundled sage, cracked pistachio, shaded lilac, wilted violet.

Some goodies purchased whilst in Maine .....

Dylusions stamp/stencil combo x2 and a pack of colouring sheets....

Tim Holtz goodies: mini bird/framelits/ embossing folder, Halloween stamps/stencil, quote stamps, crazy dogs stamps & dies, occasions framelits, word bands
I shall have to see what pages I can do using some of these things!
