Almost May

Colour me positive

  1. Blue frame. Landscape through the camera lens. Keep your eyes on the stars and your feet on the ground. Theodore Roosevelt

For this week I have a silver diecut star banner, I've added some blue to the "non star" bits, a stamped image of the globe and I've handwritten the quote. Sadly some heat embossing on the reverse has affected the page.

ART PROMPTS GALORE

April23-29: Three // scavenger:  colour of your pants, colour of something immediately to your left, scrapbook paper, something from the kitchen, something botanical, doodles, a key, a form or eve of a form, a bird, thread fibre or yarn.

I was wearing jeans at the time and had a pile of coloured papers beside me...

Every inchie Monday

Greece .....the acropolis of Athens, the oracle of Delphi, marathon, Mt Olympus home of the gods Zeus/ Aphrodite/ Hermes and more, the early writers, moussaka & taramasalata, stuffed vine leaves & feta cheese, retsina & ouzo and the remote monasteries in the peloponese. I drove through this country on our way to Abu Dhabi way back.....in 1977 and remember that the restaurants all seemed to have a standard menu & they only put prices beside the dishes that they cooked...nothing was written in English, I spoke no Greek so I'd get dragged off to the kitchen to see what was on offer & we would all rely on sign language- it was quite scary the first time it happened! This week I have map, flag & writing for you.

I had another visit up to Fraserburgh to visit Brodie on Monday, he's growing fast and going to be a handful! He moves in with us on Thursday.....

Marching on

Week 15 at life documented brings us this:

Theme: Rejuvenation – butterflies

Prompt: To create a butterfly to represent yourself, using paint and fold technique.

Optional: Create a corner pocket using same technique.  To make a snippet card/s

Technique: to use paint to create a butterfly image and to use snippets from your stash in the process.

QUOTE: “A woman is full circle, within her is the power to create, nurture and transform” Diane Mariechild or QUOTE: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” Romans 12:2

I've used a diecut butterfly that I folded in half & added blobs of nail varnish in yellow, lime, red, blue & brown. As there were still gaps I decided to go over it all with distress stain in "dusty concord" - I added my face from a rare photo and stamped the quote.

Then at Art journal journey I had more fun with scraps!

  1. Image: dreamcatcher. Word: dream. Prompt: write about a recent or reoccurring dream you have had. Technique: draw or paint with unconventional tools (please share with us what you use). Quote: every great dream begins with a dream.

I use a new die & silver card for the main part, silver & some distress oxide scraps for the feathers, I used a strand of embroidery floss to tie it all together.

Whilst we are in among the many scraps....here's what I did for art prompts galore:

APRIL 16-22: from my window// bright yellow, blue, postal ephemera, sticker, "funny" money, something received in the mail, something related to transportation, playing card, numbers, drawing.

Yellow acrylic background, blue stencilled months/dates ( the stencil came in the mail), postal ephemera (real & fake stamps + rush/fragil/first class stickers) all in blue, my funny money is an out of circulation bank note from the 70s in the UAE showing camels & a dhow which are both local forms of transportation (as does one of the stamps) a playing card and a selection of blue letter stickers that have been hanging around for far too long!

At every inchie Monday we have stayed on the African continent & moved slightly further south to Kenya and here we have Mt Kilimanjaro (that my granddaughter plans to climb next year) & the Great Rift Valley being amongst the geographical elements, the maumau rising, safari time in the Masai Mara where there are lions, elephants & rhinos - somehow I always think of the film "Born Free" when I think of this country, Nairobi where friends grew up, their amazing running athletes who partly owe their stamina to the altitudes that they are able to train at! This week I share map, flag & a lion.

We are now almost ready to have Brodie move to live with us! He's now been for his first injection & been microchipped.

Spring?

I never got round to finishing my dictionary pages last year & it would seem like no other group is doing any so I thought that I would just do one occasionally - today was one of those days! F was missing and I had a stamp sitting to one side that is destined for a friend of mine’s activity group - it was just what I needed!

FIRE
