Septembers inky mess!

NQuite a lot of photos with this one some grab a glass of something nice or even a cuppa depending on the time of day....would not want to be encouraging you to drink alcohol at 7am or worse :-)

The latest Tim Holtz tag hit our screens 5 days ago and I've been mulling this one over in my head, (some people have already posted theirs) and today was a play day due to DH being on the golf course!

I have followed Tim's instructions as closely as possible (see his blog for details)

I ventured forth with no distress paints or stains but who cares... I had the right colour inks so all could be attempted :-) Did I also mention that I had no embossing paste?  Never worry when Google and YouTube are out there to help, I found myself a recipe for embossing paste and made some up also improvised the white paint by using a tiny pot of pearlescent white (UFO) and added some "brass" children's paints that I was given last year to the inks that I did the "wrinkle free" technique with.

My stencils are  from The Crafters Workshop, I've used mini hexagons for the embossing paste and mini ledger for the white paint. I've used mini distressed harlequin & hexagons for the walnut ink layers - the pink dots have been done using sequin waste for the large dots and a separator that came out of a Marks & Spencer microwave meal! The numbers & alphabet are from Newey & I've had them years.

This is the "understanding journal dreams" tag

The dragonfly stamp is Paper Artsy (tops & tails 2) and as I did not have any of the TH masks but liked the idea of the ruler....I used a free rubber stamp that I had handy :-)

I made 2 other tags at the same time, same stencils and inks + some more chit chat stickers

"cherish art adventure"

"enjoy different travel" I made this one using a stamp I successfully bid for on eBay last week :-)

The ribbons are all made using paper ribbon that has been smoothed out, inked & stencilled.

With the various ink spritz-ings  that I did I eventually managed to achieve a sludgy mess shot with brass, it looked really nice and autumnal so I decided to use another stencil that I had so far not used that is mini branches

Again I have used the free "ruler" stamp and also added "birds on a wire" from Paper Artsy and a "flight of birds" fom Inkadinkadoo. The PA birds have been water-coloured with felt pens and, try as I might, I've been unable to put my hands on my white gelly roll pen so I had to use a white Sharpie (I don't like it!)

I've had a lot of fun & made a lot of mess :-D

Hope you've not drunk all the wine whilst reading this long screed......

I'll be back again soon.

WOYWW

Well, I had plans to get on with the TH September tag, make a wedding card & a 40th anniversary card on Monday but the weather got in the way!

Bill & I spent the morning finishing off replanting a flowerbed in the front garden where we  removed a half dead tree & a large straggly bush. By 1.30 we decided to call it a day, have lunch & chill on the rear patio...but we got a visitor just before 3 who stayed until 6 - no further work got done apart from watering pots & plants! Yesterday we took a trip over to Stonehaven to visit a friend and give the dog a run on the beach as it was another beautiful day....

On returning home we had another session with the hedge trimmers, sheared the conifers in the rockery & still I failed to get near my work desk so I am sharing the mess that it has been in since Sunday tea time and hopefully I will get near it later today to do something!
The anniversary card is due in Sussex on Friday :-( & the wedding card is local for Saturday (when I will not be attending as we are going to Leuchars airbase for the airshow)

MOOs in a row

More "wrinkle-free" ink mop-ups. The first 2 from the same piece which is left over from TH autumn tag 2012!

Not sure of the make of the pine cone stamp but the leaf is from the Rubber tapestry leaves of autumn set.

The last one is another scrap - not wrinkle free - the little turtle is a Judikins Qbit.

I'm linking the pine cones to the MOO-MANIA challenge.

AUTUMN

I felt a touch of autumn whilst walking the dog yesterday morning...and so I decided to create a little something :-)

I started off with a piece of card that had been used to mop up some extra distress inks and cut it to #8 size tag, the colours are Frayed Burlap, Pumice, Broken China, Peeled Paint & Spiced Marmalade.
I did some water flicking & then distressed & edged with Vintage Photo.

Autumn is part of a larger TH stamp from thankful silhouettes, inked in Rusty Hinge.
The background has been stamped with a "vine" leaf stamp in Peeled Paint and then I have stamped the pumpkin using the same colour + clear embossing powder (I wanted to accentuate the tendrils)
I then stamped the pumpkin with archival black on the inside of an envelope that came from France Telecom! I liked the orange pips :-)

I cut the pumpkins so that I could get 3 layers, the smaller one has been coloured using Dried Marigold, the middle layer with Spiced Marmalade and the base layer is the same but with a touch of Rusty Hinge. I've also added a few strokes of Mandarin Promarker to accentuate the shadows. The foliage has been coloured using Peeled Paint,
I have added Tattered Florals leaves that I've die-cut from inked book pages and also stamped a couple of spider webs (Martha Stewart).

Some eyelash yarn, ribbon & raffia from my stash finish the tag.

Play time

I've been shopping on eBay and here is my first successful bid
This seemed highly appropriate with autumn just round the corner....there are hopefully more little parcels to arrive :-)

Yesterday I had some playing time, much needed as my back was killing me after a hard day in the garden on Monday!
I needed to replenish my ATC stash and as I shall be heading across the pond to see the grandchildren before too long it seemed like the ideal thing to do....I shall also be collecting the Blitsy purchases that I have been making since last December!!!

Every inchie Monday

This week the theme is SONG

I just happened to have a scrap of "inkblot" card that is stamped with the music stamp from Tim Holtz "joyful song"  so all that I had to do was edge with a little black archival to define the piece & add a musical instrument that I've been hoarding forever!

Washi 2

More washi tape today...

Same Paper Artsy stamps (writing & ink blots) . This time I've coloured with DI- needs helps to dry as it was still damp after 48 hours despite yesterday being a scorcher (for Scotland) I've added a love letter (whispers for DoCraft)

I'm entering this at "less is more" & "fun with ATCs"
