Arting about

I was messing about with paint the other day.....

This one I did with a sample pot I bought many years ago when I did some Egyptian stencilling, it came from Laura Ashley and, despite being more years old than I care to remember, it was still fine to use.
I did some stencilling over the top, Dylusions stencil & 2 different shades of ink and then added a little overstamping with Tim Holtz numbers.

Then up popped colour me positive: healing // add a heart or many

More painting....overstamped using versamark & then dusted with metallic eyeshadow!

Here you can see the stamping a little more clearly

Nothing added to this one yet...

Definitely needs more work....

And then I did a little more of my "use it or lose it" - I had some mop-up scraps that I really quite liked the colours of & decided I wanted to use them to cover the reverse of a page that was blank apart from some bleed through....stuck down with double sided tape and then doodled some fake eyelets & stitches with 2 different sizes of Sharpie.

Journal 52: Prince or the Artist formerly know as prince//purple

DLP: use the colour you reach for the least

Art prompts galore:yellow// scavenger: paint (any colour) through a stencil, household tape (masking,             packing, painters, etc),magazine cutouts,3 items from your scrap box,3 round items,
2 rubber stamped images,a post it note,a paper clip,a envelope,a playing card or picture of a playing card

Sun, paper scrap & mulberry paper from scrap box, round : 2 buttons, sun, yellow diecut (happy mail), sequins, stamped image of a hand holding playing cards & also the word yellow, a circular paper clip, sequin waste stencil with fossilised amber paint.

Every inchie Monday: Monkey

And that is all the art I can share with for now but there will be more.....

Dreaming

Oh but very definitely dreaming of summer days! We've had more snow & hail as well as some lovely sunshine, just a shame that the warmth is still not there.

One good thing is it got us motivated to book our holidays so we now have finalised travel plans for France & USA :-)

Over at http://tuesdaytaggers.blogspot.co.uk/ the challenge is vintage answer as I had gotten in a summer mood and this Tim Holtz photo reminds me of a photo of my mum, her sister & friend Jean at Skegness I thought I'd join in!

Now where has that sunshine gone!

Candied Apple

It's time to join in with http://scrapsoflifebyscrappymo.blogspot.co.uk/ because it's that time of the month where I try to share my Rudolph Day card....I know, I'm a day late this month but I still have time to participate so here is the latest addition to the Christmas card pile...

Dylusions stencil, Candied Apple distress ink for the background & a seasonal greeting from Stampers Anonymous / Tim Holtz (joyful songs) double mounted on red & gold before adding to a 4x6 white card. I've got 29 made now so I'm about half way there!  See you next month girls :-)

Winter is back

.....which means it was nice & cosy in my workroom where I had fun getting creative this weekend.

Art prompts galore was just begging for a double spread with the theme earth day - brown, green, flowers, leaves, trees, fish, animal, earth.

A world map was just one of the things that I've been hoarding!

The trellis cut page was another! It reminded me of a tropical forest hence the leopard/ jaguar, giraffe & panda....

Brownish copper sequins as flower centres

A local artists salmon (Mel Shand)

Monarch of the glens & baobab are never seen in the same woods but who cares....

DLP fill your art with numbers

And more from the "use it or lose it" pile! Some numbers that I've had for ages but never could be bothered to cut out, mini calendar pages 2014 & 15, bingo paper.

Some 3D stickers on my PAC as well as some overstamping....

PAC edged with sticker waste one side & the stickers on the other & more 3D stickers

Journal 52: rise / fall as a bonus add a Phoenix

As soon as I read the theme I found myself with a certain song stuck in my head....thank you Glen Cambell for the inspiration for this page....and giving me 2 Phoenix on my page lol!

Every inchie Monday : BIG

I wasn't too sure where I was going to go with this one as there are lots of big things in life...one of them is big feet and mine are not exactly small at a uk size 7.5/8 continental 41 us 9.5 so I used a mopping up scrap and a free Christmas stamp!

I need to start thinking about next weeks now as I need a monkey/ chimp / gorilla so I'm heading out on a hunt & will see you all again soon.

Eclectic mix

I forgot to post my DLP page this week...

Requirement: PAC - add an envelope & list 10 people round the dinner table

A 1/4 circle lace corner + some turquoise felt tip to add a touch of colour, a folded underpaper to create my envelope onto which I stuck some stamped cutlery.

The list of my dinner guests...

My granddaughter turned 13 on the 19th...seems like only yesterday she looked this!

We had some decent weather this week so I actually made a start on getting the garden looking tidy...only a little tidy mind you! There's still a lot to do!

I did a cheats mixed media morsels

The video showed paint applied to paper & then folded to squidge almost like a Rorschach inkblot then cut into a butterfly shape whilst still folded. But I had to be contrary....used gelli print & mop-up scraps & a couple of sizzix butterfly dies, I did some doodling on them before I stuck them into my book.

Colour me positive : friendship....find your tribe & hold on to them tight.

Some scraped acrylic, a doodled border, sequin waste stencilling on the borders, a whole tribe of friends that I have never set eyes on, never likely to either, that I cut out of a free local magazine.

Now it's Friday evening & I have my next Journal 52 subject rise / rise again / rising up & as abounds try to add a Phoenix .....I've got some ideas & its outside the box! Watch this space to see which route I take....

Week 16

Time is flying by but the weather is still quite cold in my neck of the woods....

I have a new inchie to share poem.... Well, not quite! I thought outside the box on this one & cut the name out of a book of verse that I rescued from Bill' aunties book collection on the basis that it might come in handy one day lol.

My other share is this weeks Journal 52  page: impossible dream or goal

I've used a piece of thin card that was already coloured & left over from another project - it has some texture paste on it that I've rubbed over with silver wax & then handwritten my impossible dream.

Hope everyone is having a good start to their week....I'm off to do some ironing!

New pages

ART PROMPTS GALORE has a new theme water & the extras are shiny, gray, circles, something seasonal (Spring or Fall), time, washi tape, something starting with S, something red (cut out/tape/paper/fibre/envelope), something cut from newspaper.

I managed WATER, SHINY (roof tiles & lucky Chinese coin), CIRCLES (coin stamp border), SOMETHING SEASONAL: SPRING ( cherry blossom), WASHI TAPE, SOMETHING RED & SOMETHING CUT FROM NEWSPAPER (Japanese newspaper die-cut flower painted red & red fibre for attaching kimono bead & shiny lucky coin)

I used a piece of marbled paper hoarded since forever as the water/land that the bridge crosses in this oriental scene, I had this irresistible urge to use the red newspaper flower in the top right....turns out I was right to follow my gut feeling as it is reminiscent of the red sun in the Japan flag!

I also managed a couple of pages for POSITIV JOURNAL still on the theme of taking time/ using stamps

I've written to a few friends this week which prompted this page...

And also made a few phone calls not all of which got answered...

Hopefully winter will now release its grip on the land & send some warmth to the NorthEast of Scotland as I really don't want to wake up to any more snowy lawns this year....meanwhile I'm staying indoors & being creative whilst the arctic blast lasts!

A long time...

Facebook memories chose to remind me that it's my wedding anniversary today!

We no longer look this young.....but we still love each other after 39 years!

I must have had Alison Bomber in my thoughts when I did the colours selection for my card this year!

Out celebrating lunchtime & tonight..

Arting about...

Art prompts galore: pink & orange also on the scavenger side something postal related, something music related, something round, insect, lines, arrows, pale blue, grey, tuck in or flap....the latter is the only part that I didn't manage to include!

Journal 52: be humble for you are made of earth, be noble for you are made of stars.

I love the idea of a star studded ceiling (The Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco) the grasses along the bottom are an Indigo Blu stamp.

DLP: dare 2 B and add a face
Some green acrylic paint....oh alright I'll use this page....a black label, some stencilling add a stamped & coloured face....

And another page for Positiv journal
Paper Artsy stamp (tick & tock), weathered clock diecut, washi tape, stencilling

And our theme for EIM is fish....he's looking a little under the weather and pale about the gills!

See you all again soon with more art.....

Fun

Positiv Journal where we are still making time / using stamps.....it's Friday so it's drinks with friends night! Another advert led to this quick page :-)

Mixed Media Morsels....made borders and for this one I've got spray distress ink in picked raspberry,  spray metallic in copper through a chevron TCW stencil and some wilted violet sponged through another stencil - as it still looked a bit on the dark side I decided to sponge some gesso through some small holed sequin waste....the borders are underpaper that has been overstamped with a stampers anonymous grid stamp that's then been cut, the edges redefined with a black pen & some yellow dots added - I used an alphabet stencil for the quote.

Colour me positive theme this week is Happy

I already had some random punchinella stencilling on the spread & I'd rediscovered the 2 borders in my stash....I added some doodling, stamped the quotes onto tissue paper and stuck them down .

2 more themes have come through today so I already have some ideas for the art prompts galore one but then Journal 52 one will require some sleeping on! That will be tonight's job lol....

Have a good weekend everybody
